Although we have known the Callan Method for many years, the structure and sheer demands to become a Callan teacher is complex to succeed in being a proficient teacher.

Miss Yuxin Liu and David Smith attended the Callan Method training course for a week and experienced first hand this process, Miss Liu was the only foreign teacher on the entire course and learnt an incredible amount from this experience, we will continue with on going training over the next few months and hope to become real experts in this field.

We can appreciate the Callan Method much more now and understand why students benefit so much from being taught using the Callan Method; it truly will teach you English in a quarter of the normal time.

Different from other Methods.

1. A teacher always stands holding a pen: standing keeps the students attention and gives a sense of urgency.

2. Teachers ask questions twice at high speed: the first time teachers speak clearly stressing the key words, the second time is for giving the student time to prepare the answer.

3. Teachers never wait for the answers: this is to avoid students translating the questions. The professional teachers help the students both fluent and slow with push and pull technique.

4. Long Answers: It helps in making the students speak as much as possible during the lesson, not the teachers.

5. Speed: Don¡¯t waste a second.¡å Say nothing, rather than a pause, ¡åalso speed maintains concentration, prevents translation and makes optimum use of time available, for which the student is paying.

6. Pronunciation Correction: It¡¯s very important for every student and also it¡¯s an absolute essential condition to speak English authentically.

7. No Chatting: When chatting, students only practise what they know; they are not learning.

8. Revision: revision is fundamental to the Callan Method. The secret of success to learning a language is to repeat, repeat and repeat until speaking without thinking.

The end results are self evident, a professional Callan trained teacher will guide the student to a successful conclusion, allowing the student to feel they have obtained great knowledge in an efficient time, certainly we at Sunmoon U.K. are impressed with the teacher training methods and the results we personally achieved, we felt confident that whilst teaching our class that the students were alert, focused and best of all rapidly improving their English skills.
